Trac or Confluence?

Posted on: July 31, 2008

I’m in the middle of deciding which wiki tool to use. I really like the features the the ease of using trac wiki since I am using it on my current freelance project, but at the sametime I think Confluence is also as good since JUG Indonesia has been granted a Confluence license by Atlassian. What do you think is better based on your experience?

I personally prefer Trac, mainly because of the integration of wiki, ticket tracking and SVN browsing. It’s just so well integrated. And there are so many plugins. I love the timeline view.

Also, cos it’s free. Sure many open-source projects have been given a free license for Confluence and Jira, but Trac is open-source.

I actually posted on this subject back in February.

I had experience with Confluence/Jira, but decided to use Trac at my company due to company culture and cost. I still prefer the wiki parts of Confluence, but Trac is tough to beat on the ticket and SVN integration front.
